I began legal costing work in 1985 for my father, Clarrie Matters, the co-founder of the Sydney legal costing firm, Driscoll & Matters, on a part-time basis and became a principal of that firm in 1992.
In the period 1993 - 2004, I provided legal costing services with my wife, Janet McDonald and our employees as Driscoll & Matters and as Driscoll, Matters & McDonald. In 2004, our practice was acquired by DG Thompson and I became the Managing Solicitor of DG Thompson Driscoll + Matters. Following an 18 month period in Brisbane, establishing the Brisbane office of DG Thompson Driscoll + Matters, I resigned and returned to Sydney, commencing provision of legal costing services in my own name.
As a consequence of the above, I now have the experience that some twenty years of practice and thousands of engagements produce, incorporating the preparation of costs documents, the provision of legal costing advice and opinion evidence.
I am also a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of New South Wales and a registered practitioner of the High Court of Australia and also hold a current unrestricted practising certificate issued by the Law Society of New South Wales.
